On Friday night, I went to one of the fanciest & loveliest events ever! Hosted by Sunset Magazine as a part of their Savor the Central coast event, it was just like going to a classy wedding, minus the bride & groom. (Big difference, I know.)
We started out just appreciating the view from the hotel before hopping on the shuttle & getting a quick five minute ride down to the beach. Isn’t it a stunning look at the ocean?
I stayed at the Cliff’s Resort in Pismo Beach, which was an amazing little hotel. I had a comfy bed, a great view of the ocean, a gorgeous beach just a five minute walk from my room, a delicious restaurant for breakfast, & a fabulous pool to lounge by once the beach & the ocean got me a bit too salty.
The view there was lovely, too, but this view is from the cute little cliffside pagoda at the Best Western Plus, Cliff Lodge, which is where some of my friends & coworkers stayed during the same trip. It was a really really beautiful spot to watch the early part of the sunset. (I just swoon over that golden light, don’t you?)
This photo actually shows the beach where we had the amazing dinner. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better day: it was warm for most of the evening & they had cozy blankets, fires, & even s’mores for dessert once it got cool. There wasn’t any wind & the colors in the sky were just to die for. Honestly, it was just the most beautiful location.
Seriously though. They had couches laid out on the sand & live music.
There was a lot of delicious local wines (mostly from Paso Robles) & two very delicious cocktails. My favorite was this tasty Watermelon Margarita. I’d enjoy that tasty (& pretty!) drink again, just lounging on a sofa on the beach, watching the sun set over the Pacific Ocean… Yum!
It really was an evening to Savor…
So I took advantage of the beauty & the light & truly savored it! (Maybe with a little bit too much of the wine & cocktails, but still. Why go, if not for that? 😉 )
Of course, being hosted by Sunset Magazine meant that they really made the magazine lifestyle come alive by truly making every part of the evening absolutely perfect. Check out the beautiful table set-up; we were housed in this tall white tents that they actually lit up during the evening. It was lovely!
The food was delicious, too, although almost nobody ate that pig at the end! They left it fully intact – ears, eyes, paw…. SO gross & off putting & it honestly just looked like they had taken my cute little puppy at home & served her up on the table. No way, José.
Other than that though… the food was amazing. The salad, with the whipped burrata? Oh – Em – Gee. So. Good! Everything came out so beautifully plated, too.
& that was that! A gorgeous evening. Beautiful & delicious food (for the most part). Very tasty drinks. & a fun S’Mores bar to cap off the evening. I was probably overdosed on wine & marshmallow by the time the sun was down completely & we boarded the bus.

p.s. Just to be clear: this post was not sponsored by Sunset Magazine or anything else, but I did receive free tickets to the Savor the Central Coast event from my company, Torani, who was an event sponsor. Which was lovely.
