I always say that if I were stuck on a desert island & could pick only one food to eat for the rest of my life, it would be chips & salsa. It’s making my mouth water to just think about that right now. So delicious! I’m from California & other than my Mamma’s cooking, which nobody can beat, Mexican food is my life blood. You can never go wrong with a good burrito. Chips & guacamole? Yes, please. Tacos? I want five.
But I’ve been gone for over two months now & nobody has Mexican food like I’m used to. I didn’t see any in Uganda, found none in Italy (although we didn’t look very far, hah!), had “Tex Mex” in Switzerland, although it ended up being a fairly poor excuse for Mexican food (despite being a pretty good lunch!), & was basically dreaming of tortillas by the time I arrived in Paris.
Yelp to the rescue (yet again; thanks, guys!), we found this little taco place with pretty good reviews & headed over. We were the first customers, so they looked pretty closed when we arrived, but we got seated in the back room by the window & were immediately pretty happy. While the front looks like your basic taqueria, the back of the place is a real restaurant & by the looks of it, a real bar, too.
We ordered tamarind flavored margaritas, which I’d heard about through a reviewer. They came blended, not over ice, but the rim was tasty & they were surprisingly pretty strong. I’m not big on drinks, but I do love a margarita, so this was a fun thing to sip on while we waited. The music was really great & the decor is fab; it’s a great place to hang out.
The guacamole was absolutely fantastic. I wish it had been bottomless. Seriously. The tortilla chips left a little to be desired, but I didn’t mind too too much.
They don’t have many options, instead offering just a daily menu that you can choose off of. We got two pork tacos & two veggie tacos. Again, the tortillas were meh (not sure what it was, but they certainly aren’t freshly made), but the taco fillings more than made up for it.
The pork tacos were omg-yum. Seriously. I couldn’t believe how flavorful & soft the meat was. Just the right amount of seasoning, too. The veggie tacos were pretty good, too. Freshly stewed veggies with a nice slice of avocado on top. Mmmm.
I know not everybody is going to have been starved of Mexican food by the time they get to Paris, but if you’re like me & you live for Mexican food, check this place out. It’s pretty good & definitely a cute place to hang!
