I was in wine country this weekend to take photos for engagement photos and then, because my clients are rad, we had cocktails and tasted wine and took photos. I’m really happy with the whole session and I’ll blog it on my client photo blog with real people in it there, but in the meantime, I wanted to pop over here and say…
GET YOUR BUTT UP TO HEALDSBURG. Gah. I’m already dreaming up a reason and a way to get back there, in a cute cocktail dress, just to hang out. So, hey. Enjoy the inspiration.
We started at Medlock Ames, where they have this super neat cocktail sign, the coolest bar, and a really beautiful garden where you can hang out, drink a little, enjoy the sunshine and the vineyards, etc. It’s dreamy.
I believe their bar is the old cocktail room. It is done up incredibly. They have open shelving, vintage wood paneling, some great little tables and a nice little couch/bench thing for lounging on. They also have a PHOTO BOOTH, which was amazing. I’m obsessed with photo booths (well, kind of; obsessed might be a little strong, hah!) and I’d basically go back just to drag Sam into that.
I mean, come onnnn. Also, they have a small garden out back by where you hang out, filled with veggies and herbs. It’s beautiful and cool and all of the herbs for their cocktails are just brought in from the garden that is ten feet away.
After we enjoyed our cocktails, hung out, etc., we headed up to the vineyards of another winery. This spot was private (we got special permissions) and it was basically a deck and a BBQ on the hill overlooking all of this. It was… incredible. We poured a glass of wine and just kicked back to enjoy the view and the golden hour sunshine. I couldn’t believe what we managed to luck into!
You can’t come up to this vineyard, but you can hang out in other stunning places in Napa. Every time I go wine tasting (it’s not that often, but we did get a lot of experience wine tasting in South Africa), I am reminded how perfect it is. You hang out with your friends in the warm air, drinking really incredible wine, and looking at views like this. Even if you don’t get this specific vineyard/winery experience, you can (and totally should) head up to Healdsburg for the same kind of laid back relaxation. It’s lovely, really.
It was warm late into the evening and the sunset was full of lovely colors and the perfect hue. We had the place completely to ourselves (we had to drive down a long dirt road to get there, haha) and it got quiet and perfect and the sun went below the horizon. It really felt like summer, all the way down to the tips of my toes. So, that. What a great Saturday evening.
